How many cells do I need for Tapestri?

  • Updated
Analyte DNA-only DNA + Protein
Stock (e.g., cryovial) < 500,000 1 – 2 million
Prior to cell antibody staining N/A 600,000 – 1M
Prior to cartridge loading 30,000- 100,000 30,000 – 100,000

DNA-only workflow

We recommend starting with ~5x the amount of cells that are needed for cartridge loading on the Tapestri Instrument. This cell number accounts for cell loss due to cell washing and quantification and ensures the minimum required number of cells across a number of different sample types.

DNA/protein workflow

We recommend starting with up to 2 million cells due to the increased number of washing steps – 6 compared to 2 for the DNA-only workflow. Prior to antibody staining, at least 600,000 cells are recommended to ensure the minimum number of cells required for cartridge loading on the Tapestri Instrument.

If after thawing a sample for the DNA + Protein workflow and <600,000 cells are counted, consider processing the cells with the DNA-only workflow.
