Do gene-based designs only include CDS regions?

  • Updated

Gene targets only use coding sequence (CDS) regions within that gene. Tapestri Designer resolves the gene to its CDSand then designs amplicons for only those regions. For example, on creating a panel with gene target as NRAS the following regions are used:

Chromosome

Start

End

Region

chr1

115251155

115251275

CDS 1

chr1

115252189

115252349

CDS 2

chr1

115256420

115256599

CDS 3

chr1

115258670

115258781

CDS 4

The UTRs and introns are not included in the design. To design a panel for the entire gene, add the regions for the UTRs and introns within the gene as region-based targets. For example, to design for the entire NRAS gene provide these targets:

Gene, NRAS, only CDS

Region, chr1:115247084-115250671, 3'UTR 1

Region, chr1:115250671-115250774, Intron 1
